Kyle Alden

Kyle Alden is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, fiddle and mandolin) with deep roots in the San Francisco Irish music community. Since the mid 1990s he has played guitar accompaniment for top Irish musicians-in concert settings, dances and sessions.

He is a member of three acoustic-based bands: Curlew (with Wake the Dead members Paul Kotapish, Maureen Brennan and Bobbi Nikles); Uilleann piper extraordinaire Todd Denman's Anair Band; and the Mild Colonial Boys, a fun trio that balances songs in the Irish, English and American traditions with originals and lively instrumentals.

In the last few years Kyle has been writing many new songs. His "Ballad of a Sleepwalker" was recorded last year in Portland, Oregon and was released in October 2004. January 2005 saw Kyle working on a new recording with producer Scott Mathews at Tikitown Studios, Mill Valley. The new six song EP, called hubbub, will be complete by early April. Go to Free Downloads to hear Sleepwalker and selected hubbub tracks.

Rainshadow, Kyle's 1993 solo album of traditional-inspired acoustic music composed and played on octave mandolin (released under the name Kyle Thayer) was given rave reviews by Dirty Linen Magazine. Rainshadow was re-released on CD in 2003 (Available at CD Baby.com)
